Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is better to have broad knowledge of many academic subjects than to specialize in one specific subject.Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
With the development of society, the requirements when you need to get a decent position have become higher and higher. It's better to have broad knowledge of many academic subjects to win the drastic competition in the society nowadays. My statement is based on follow reasons.
First of all, learning a broad knowledge are able to help you build a efficient method to learn new skills or information. When you expand you sight on learning, you will easily find that all the process of all learning has somehow similarity and you will easily handle new things with your broad academic knowledge. By contrast, if you only concentrate on one specific subject, you will be so strange to the new idea when you need other fields' methods to solve the difficulties you faced. Take my classmate for an example, he's only interested in computer programming and fall in almost every course expect to subjects about computer science. One day his computer broke down and he have no idea what to know to fix up the machine, but it's only small malfunction in the battery after I have a look on his computer. I think if he spent any minutes on electronic engineering class and this problem wouldn't bother him at all.
Furthermore, companies nowadays need more employee who have ability to come out new ideas. However, if you don't accumulate knowledge and information in a broad field, it will be tough for you to figure out some brand new things. For example, the Chinese famous entrepreneur Jack Ma was major in English at college but now he possesses the world biggest electronic business company because his broad knowledge of so many subjects allow him to combine Internet and traditional business. It's obvious for us to conclude the strong connection between innovation and broad knowledge.
All in all, broad knowledge not only help us with learning new things, but also promote our innovation ability. I propose that we should expand our sight and learn a broad field of academic subjects.
