The reading and the lecture both discuss existance of bees 200 million years ago. The author of the reading advances some hypotheses to explian that bees were not exit 200 million years ago and this is over estimated. Howevere, the lecturer finds all ideas dubious and presents some evidence to repudiate them all. He asserts that it is possible that bees lived 200 million years ago.
First of all, according to the reading the earliest preserved fossil of bees is about 100 million years ago. Conversely, professor in the lecture holds a negative toward this idea and dismisses it. She asserts that the resine which could make a fossil of bees didn't exist at 200 million years ago and no fossil could not be preserved. Moreover, she says that no fossil does not mean that no bees exist.
Furthermore, the writer of the passage casts doubt on existance of bees by pushing forth the idea that bees feed rely almost on flowers which did not exist 200 million years ago. It is contended that the first flowring plants first apeared on Earth 125 millions years ago. In the lecture professor believes that bees feed of the plants which existed 200 million years ago. In addition, she argues that after plant revolution bees feed changed to flowers. As a result, bees were adapted to the plants of 200 million years ago.
Finally, readins notes the sturcture of found fossil is almost different of chambers made by modern bees. It points out the lack of a cap for chambers and claims that this fossiles may be made bu other insects. On the other hand the lecturer totaly disagree with this idea. She cites a recent study which has proved that the fossil material is as the of what modern bees make.
