The passage discusses the drawbacks of the online encyclopedias and provides three reasons for describing these flaws. However, the professor refutes each o the author's reason by stating these online encyclopedias are helpful. So, the professor provides three reasons.
First, the reading states authors of these online encyclopedias lack academic credintials and these people are not reliable for writing these important subjects. Also, the text adds that there are errors in these articles maybe because of their unprofessional writers. The lecture refutes this idea by explaining these kind of errors are exist even in the printed encyclopedias. The professor states that correcting these errors in printed books are very dificult in comparison with online ones. Making theerrors correct in online encyclopedias is very simple.
Second, the pasage contends that vandals and hackers have the opportunity to manipulate, delete and even worse corrupt the prepared information. However, the professor asserts there are different strategies that we can use for preventing these kind of scandals. For example, we can use many determined editors for editing these articles. So, others cannot manipulate data. Also, we can provide read only texts for users. As a result, the professor thinks there are solutions to solve the hack problem and she rejects the text's idea.
Third, the reading states online encyclopedias focus on depth of trivial topics. So, these topics create false effects in the community. While, the professor thinks there is a good point in online encyclopedias that there is not in printed ones and it is about the space. She describes thate there are a lot of spaces in online websites and we put a lot of information in inline encyclopedias but there are limitations in printed books. So, she thinks the online encyclopedias solve the space problem. As we can see, the professor rejects the reading's reason.
