The diagram below shows the process of distilling salty water into fresh water
The diagrammatic representation depicts how fresh water can be obtained from salty water by the process of distillation.
First of all, a gas stove is required which acts as a heat source. On top of it, a pot is kept and it is covered by a funnel. The other side of the funnel is connected to a long pipe which is kept above a bucket. To keep the pipe on its place, it is tied with the help of a rope.
The process begins once the gas stove has been turned on. The salty water in the pot begins to boil, and the steam rises into the pipe through the funnel. A cloth is wrapped around the pipe and cold water is poured on it which condenses the vapour inside. Water droplets are formed and they drip into the bucket and hence, fresh water is obtained.
Overall, converting sea water into fresh water requires 8 materials and this procedure is quite easy to perform.
