The diagram below shows how electricity is generated in a hydroelectric power station. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The given scheme explains the way in which the hydroelectric power station works and produces electricity for people. Overall, this is a complex process consisting of several stages which are based on differences in water level of two reservoirs and the time of day.
First of all, the river fills the high-level reservoir which is controlled by the dam that usually is closed at nights. In the daytime the flow of water transfers to a generator where reversible turbines operate the generator. However, at nights the water from the low-level reservoir pump into the high-level one. Eventually, these flows activate reversible turbines turning the generator on and producing the electricity for the city. Electric power is sent to power lines and then to the national grid to final consumers.
In general, electricity produces with help of the nature during the day, while a pump takes part in this difficult and complicated process at nights.
