The graph illustrates about immigration, emigration to the UK and net migration between 1999 and 2008. Overall, it is evident that the number of people immigrating to the UK was higher than the figure for emigrating.
In 1999, the number of people immigrating to the UK was approximately 460 thousands people and only 300 thousands people emigrating to the UK, whereas the figure for net migration was just under 200 thousands people. From 1999 to 2003, the proportion of people migrating to the UK slightly increased, while the percentage for net migration was not significant changes.
In 2004, the number of people migrating on the network reached a peak at about 250 thousands people, compared with about 600 thousands people immigrating and 350 thousands people emigrating to the UK. The percentage of citizens who emigrated to the UK fluctuated between 350 and 400 thousands people throughout 5 years, reaching just over 400 thousands people in 2008. The figure for immigrating reached approximately 600 thousands people and there were only around 170 thousands people migrating on the world in 2008.
