The chart below show the percentage of of five kinds of book sold by a bookseller between 1972 and 2012. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The three given pie charts compare the popularity of five different genres of books according to the sales of a bookseller from 1972 to 2012.
Overall, the figures for adult and children’s fiction witnessed upward trends while the remaining genres declined dramatically. Due to these changes, other categories of books lost their dominant position to adults’ book at the end of the period.
Looking first at adult fiction, the figure for this genre slightly increased by 5% in sales in the next two decades and then reached an all-time peak of 45% in 2012. An increase in the sales of children's books was also recorded, but less pronounced, from 20% in 1972 to 25% in 2012.
On the other hand, biography and other genres of books share the same descending pattern in the 40-year period, with drops of 12% and 13% in sales respectively. As for travel books, they gained the least popularity in 1972, but outnumbered biography in 1992 before its figure remarkably fell in the next years and ended up at 10% in 2012.
