lifetime employment
Nowadays, it is rare to find a professional individual who spends many years in the same organization. A long-term, lifetime job can be both beneficial and detrimental. On the one hand, it can give you a sense of safety and provide a bunch of opportunities to advance in an organization. On the other hand, it can also stop the growth and prevent the employee from learning new skills or experiencing new trades in the workforce; which is one of the reasons why people are changing jobs more than ever before.
In the first place, sticking with one organization can result in career stagnation. In other words, the employed person gradually becomes comfortable with the job payments, the amount of job strain, and the workplace environment. In fact, career stagnation causes the employed person does not even consider thinking about any other career opportunities. At the same time, the person may become robotic in the same routine which prevents him/her from being a creative employee. For instance, a long-term boss may give you the same daily demands which may seem an easy schedule to follow. However, constantly fulfilling the needs of your employer holds you back from discovering the talents which you never knew you had.
In the second place, having the same job for many years can negatively affect your Curriculum Vitae (CV). As a matter of fact, companies sometimes look for a potential candidate with an array of experiences. In other words, working for the same employer for many years causes your CV to become dull and dry, lacking versatility in skills and services. In fact, a boring CV may get you overlooked by competition that has varied experience in their career history.
To conclude, lifetime employment is not for everyone. Depending on your needs and current situation, it may harm you or benefit you in many ways. Since there are several possible advantages and disadvantages, you need to 'weigh' which are the most important for you.
