The passage discusses "let it burn" policy which in that if the forest started to burn they would let it to burn. Based on the passage, in a destructive event in the summer of 1988 this policy caused a massive damge in a large area. As aresult, people want to replace this policy with an efficient method. In contrast, the professor states most of the time "let it burn" policy is a suitable way. The passage rejects all the text's reasons.
