TPO 40: surface of the venus is not possible habitant for human
The lecture and the passage discuss the possibility of a permanent maintaining of humans on Venus. The article states that it is impossible for a human to stay on Venus for a long time. Whereas, the professor in the lecture declares that it is quite possible if we consider a station on 50 Km above the surface of Venus.
First, the passage mentions that the pressure on the Venus surface is extremely high so that the human cannot tolerate it. However, the lecturer argues against this opinion and says that the pressure on the station near the atmosphere of Venus will virtually be the same as the pressure on the Earth. If we create a float station on the height 50 K.M of the Venus surface, we will not have the pressure issue. Therefore, this issue could not be problematic.
Second, the reading claims that there is no water on the surface of Venus, and supplying water from Earth is impossible. Although, the lecture disagrees with this argument and states that in the atmosphere of Venus there are prerequisite materials for making water. The atmosphere of Venus contains a huge amount of carbon dioxide and sulfuric acid, and it is absolutely possible to make water with these chemical materials. Hence, we don't need to import water from Earth.
Finally, the writer points out that solar power cells will be inefficient on the surface of Venus due to the reflection of the sunlight by both a thick layer of clouds and a dense layer of carbon dioxide. While the professor retorts that notion and believes that the clouds layer above the mentioned height is not thick. If we put the station on that height above the surface, solar power sells can collect the sunlight from the Sun above the station directly and reflected from the thick clouds layer under the station indirectly. Therefore, it cannot be a significant problem for permanent maintaining of human on Venus.
Although the passage brings three reasons to express that there is no possibility for staying on Venus for a long time, the professor makes a reasonable argument against that to demonstrate it is completely possible.
