Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Young people
nowadays do not respect their teachers as much as they did in the past.
Nowadays, in such a progressive world we live in, teachers have been considered to be effective elements of every society. Their role in educating students, the people who are in charge of building country’s future, cannot be underestimated. In this vein, the relationship between teacher and students has been the heated debates among many people to evaluate whether students are being respectful about their teachers during the recent years or not. Personally speaking, I agree upon this fact that recently, there has been a reduction of gratefulness for teachers by students and I support my reasons to elaborate my point of view in the following paragraphs.
To begin with, I should admit that most of the teachers in the past, were far older than the teachers living nowadays and they were not only more thoughtful and accomplished but also they had the ability to manage some classes together at the same time indicating their fully-concentrated mind. However, teachers in this era, neither can fulfill their teaching hours as a single class nor having enough focus to deal with variety of students at the same time. For instance, I red a book about a teacher from the beginning of 19th century who was so respected by his students at the time due to the highly-skilled style in teaching math, literature and chemistry, that the government named the central library of his town after his name. Therefore, that is how highly respected teachers are treated.
The other subtle point to be mentioned is that with by advent of technology and high quality equipment including computers, satellites and video projectors, the role of teachers has been inconspicuous since these instruments have been replaced by teachers. If students face a problems, they easily search in the net through computers and find out plentiful information about their issue. As an illustration, when I was in the college, I had a very difficult exam and I did not know how to solve its questions. In spite of the fact that our teacher had announced us to visit him in the case we had any question, I prefer to search in the internet and find out how to solve the problems. Thus, the technology has changed the way students treat their teacher.
To sum it up, contemplating al reasons, one soon realizes that compared to the recent decades,, teacher have been less respected not only because of their less knowledge and domination on the materials, but also due to the advance of high-tech instruments by which students can find answer of any question. Isn’t the right time for teachers to consider this challenging issue and improve their styles according to nowadays criteria?
