The reading passage and the lecture are both about cloud seeding as a method to reduce the amount of hail. While the reading passage states that there are several evidence that can approved the effectiveness of this method the lecture contradicts these claims and provides evidence to the contrary.
First, the author argues that laboratory experiments show that by adding silver iodide to the clod vapor the light snow could be form instead hail. Conversely, the lecturer holds the view that it is possible in laboratory condition but in the real condition, silver iodide could prevent any precipitation and in this way the crop will damage by drought.
Second, the passage brings up the idea that successful evidence in asia demonstrate that cloud seeding would be effective in control the hail in urban area. In contrast the professor underlines the fact that it is not clear that using cloud seeding in farmland would have a same result that had in asia. this is because the pollution air make a appropriate condition for this method so in the unpluted farm we could not have the same result.
Furthermore, according to the passage local study in the centeral reagion of United states shows that could seeding method could reduce the hail percepitation. However, the lecturer makes it clear that study found that hail precipitation decreae not only in the test area but also in some neghboring area therefor, it maybe happende as a result of natural variation in local climate.
