The article claims that many districts along with federal government are using standardized tests to ensure that students receive the best education possible and provides three reasons of support. First, the reading claims that these tests are given statewide and nationwide thereby setting a strong standard of all schools to follow. On the contrary, the lecturer opposes this by saying that they are forcing schools to use these tests. They are pushing teachers to teach in the same way, and not giving them instructions’ freedom. Second, the authors explains that schools become more accountable for the success of their students. On the contrary, the lecturer refutes this by saying that under performing students are punished because of their result. Funds for students are based on their performing. For those who lived in tough neighborhood as a result of their negative environment and their hard situation make them not perform good on tests. Then , they receive less funds.
Third, the reading says that the benefit of the exams can be used to provide help to those who need it the most. However, the lecturer contents that these tests are done in millions of students . Some of them with different way of learning. For those who response badly to pressure those tests have not benefits. There is no way of helping those students by keeping them in the same level.
