This was followed by a period of exponential growth from 1985 to 2000, with the quantity of conferences reaching a peak of 40 in 2000. However, the next 10 years of the period brought a sustained decline in this figure.
Decreasing from exactly 35 in 1980 to 29 in 1985, the number of international conferences in cities A then slightly rose to 32 in 1990. The latter period from 1995 to 2010 witnessed a gradual dip in this figure. Meanwhile, 30 international conferences were organized in cities B in 1980, the number then dropped sharply to 21 in 1985, before fluctuated at somewhere between 24 and 26 conferences prior to 2000. After that, the figure continued to increase to 27 in 2005 and then slipped back to 26 at the end of the 20-year period.
