Most alcoholics purchase liquor legally. According to your point of view, should stores in general be legally allowed to sell liquor to alcoholics?
It is widely-held belief that alcohol is sold legally and this is responsible for alcoholism. There is also counter-argument that alcoholics can figure out a way to buy alcohol even if it is not sold legally. Considering this as a very sensitive topic and has several pros and cons for greater good for society, the topic is to be debated carefully from all angles before coming to any conclusion.
It is generally considered that liquor should not be sold to alcoholics (people who have addiction to alcohol, which can be injurious to their health). Despite such norms, liquor stores sell it to alcoholics with bypass methods as no bill or selling at higher rates etc. Despite several efforts taken by government and other welfare organizations working hard to stop such activities, no controls work on liquor stores. As it is highest source of income for government in the form of tax.
On the other hand, people manage to buy illegally, if it is not available legally. These store keepers want to make money, so they do not want to abide by the controls suggested by WHO.
I personally feel that more than efforts driven by government, it is people who should take stand to consume or discard such habits.
Overall, considering all the points discussed above it is clear that selling liquor legally or illegally to alcoholics is not going to solve the root problem. The root problem is an alcoholic himself should determine to get rid of this habit.
