The line chart describes the number of citizens whose nationality was officially British between 1962 and 2002, and the bar chart outlines the original nationality of uk’s immigrants from 1996 to 2002.

Generally, during the period of 40 years, there were more people become uk citizens legally as well as the increasing number of immigrants went to the uk.

Specifically, there was 20 thousands people was official uk citizens. The number rose substantially to 39 thousands people in 1972, prior to experiencing a modest drop by nine thousands in the preceded ten years. it was recorded that 50 thousands people had uk citizenship in 1992. it was then rocketed, and accounted for 115 thousands during the last ten years.

Among 115 thousand uk newly citizenship in 2002, there were 58 thousand who immigrated from Asia, which is higher than 1996 nearly ten thousands. 25 thousand and 27 thousand of uk immigrants in 2002 whose origin was Africa and Europe respectively. Such number is relatively larger than one in 1996, which was estimated at 9 thousand people from each continents. However, the number of immigrants from others decreased by 1 thousand throughout six years period.
