Given is a table providing information about the changes in different modes of travel in England between 1985 and 2000. It can be clearly seen that, English people were basically travelling by car from 1985 to 2000, starting from 3199 miles it increases up to 4806 miles accordingly.
People who preferred walking and using local buses accounted for 255 and 429 miles in 1985 and as the years went by a significant is observed in those types of modes in 2000 (237 and 274 miles respectively). Although, the next two modes, train and other type of mode had lower figures in 1985, it can be observed that there is a noticeable rise in train (366 miles) and other modes (585 miles) in 2000.
Bicycle and long distances buses had much lower figures in 1985 and as the years went by bicycle dropped by 10 miles in 2000, whereas long distances buses increased much more than two times in 2000. The only mode was taxi which had much lower figures in both years (13 miles in 1985 and the second lowest figures in 2000 with 42 miles) England.
