Overall, in the year 2000 Yemeni people were younger than Italian. In addition, people of both countries will have become older by 2050.
In 2000, the number of children between 0-14 years old accounts for nearly half of the population in Yemen, whereas in Italy they constitute about 14.3% of the total population. People aging between 15-59 years were around 46.3% percent of Yemeni people, while being over half of the population of Italy (61.6%). Finally, the number of people exceeding 60 years of age represent the lowest fraction of the Yemeni population (3.6%). Meanwhile, in Italy they constitute nearly a quarter of the people (24.1%).
On the other hand, In Yemen, projections for 2050 expect that young children between 0-14 years will have decreased to 37%, while both people between 15-59 years and people above 60 years old will have risen to 57.3% and 5.7% respectively.
