Knowledge acquired in schools is essential to students as it not only prepares them academically for the future but also helps them decide what their goal for the future will be. The statement claims that the schools should teach the same curriculum within a nation. I partially agree with the statement that the same curriculum can be beneficial for the students.
Firstly, the same curriculum would provide the less privileged students an equal opportunity to perform well compared to the privileged students. For example, a student who studies same curriculum in a particular part of the nation compared to another student will have equal opportunity to be accepted into a national college based on merit. This will ensure that the competition among the students is unbiased.
Secondly, the students often seek admissions not only in colleges in the same region but in a different part of the nation. Ensuring that each student has received the same basic knowledge will help the students to be equally prepared for colleges. This will help them to well prepared for college and not face difficulties in understanding the course they pursue. If a student pursuing a course in biology has studied a different curriculum in school compared to the advanced curriculum being offered in college then the student can face challenges in college to keep up to date with the course. To avoid this issue and ensure continuity in education schools should teach the same curriculum as it will be helpful for the student to be prepared for continuing with respective courses in college.
However, it should not be strictly regulated that every school offers the same curriculum. Such as a school in a different region would like students to learn about the history or culture of their region. So in such situations, this regulation can be waived. Also, all regions may not be capable of providing necessary resources required as part of the curriculum such as computer labs, science laboratories, playgrounds due to lack of funds or other reasons. In such cases imposing the same curriculum regulation can be challenging for those schools.
In conclusion, the imposing of the same national curriculum policy will be beneficial for the students as it will provide equal opportunity to students from different regions or backgrounds and also ensure that each student is well prepared academically for their college. But such a policy should not be strictly applied as it would not be practical for every school to offer same education under varied circumstances.
