The charts below show the number of Japanese tourist travelling abroad between 1985 and 1995 and the Australia's share of the Japanese tourist market.
The graph compares the number of Japanese travellers abroad and Australian's share from Japan's tourism as the number increased over the period of ten years from 1985 to 1995.
As can be seen from the first graph, there was a rising trend from 1985 to 1990 with the total of travellers increasing from 5 to 12 million. Although there appeared to be a significant decrease of travellers in 1991 to 1993. The highest percentage was reached with 13 million travellers at the end of the year.
With the data presented in the second graph, Australia share of Japanese tourist was remarkably increasing. In 1985 from zero percent it jumped to 3% after only a year. However, there were also considerable increase noted in 1987 to 1989. There was a decrease in the percentage which suddenly dropped by 2% in 1990 but it reached the biggest percentage of market share in the last couple of years at around 6%
Overall, the two chart show the highest and lowest percentage of travellers abroad and Australia's share during the period recorded.
