elephants are fascinating animals for people and both lecture and passage are about them and passages author presents some of their behavior which makes people amazed, but the lecturer does not believe in this behavior as something elephant usually and concisely do.
first, the passage's author acclaimed that elephants are aware of their death time and mentioned how they go near the water in a specific place after they get old and wait there until their death comes, by contrast, the lecturer said, in fact when elephants get old, their teeth lose its ability to chew, so they prefer to eat softer vegetables which they can find near waters.
secondly, the passage mentioned elephant can represent the world around them by painting flowers and other animals. So we can say they have artistic abilities, on the other hand, the lecturer said it is not their own ability, actually, there are some human trainers who control them by touching their ears which are so sensitive and teach them to remember who to paint lines. so they do not really have any understanding of what these lines present.
finally, the passage discusses elephants' fear of mics and other small mammals and mention its base. the lecturer refutes it, saying that this fear is because of elephants' unfamiliarity to mices and he mentioned that elephants who live in zoos do not afraid of mics at all.
all in all, the lecturer destroyed all of the passage points by science and observation.
