Governments should focus on solving the immediate problems of today rather than on trying to solve the anticipated problems of the future.
Main purpose of government is to safeguard the citizen from various problems. There could be impending problems and also predicted problems of the future. The government has to determine which is the more threatening problem and then take measures to counteract it. Most of the times though the looming and the anticipated problems are contingent on each other ; solving one can significantly influence the other problem. Hence government should identity the relation between the problems, adjudicate on which is more troublesome and act accordingly.
