The bar graph represents the literacy rate of indian in 2013, 2015, 2017. It is categorized according to their sex and whether they live in rural and urban location.
Overall, males have higher rate of literacy than female and those indian who lives in urban areas have better reading and writing skills than those who lives in rural areas.
With regard to mens, those living in rural areas had considerably lower literacy rate as compared to their counterparts. While rural male literacy rate rose sharply from 57% to 77% over three years, the literacy rate of urban male grew more gradually from 81% to 85% .
The literacy rate of females living in rural areas considerably lower than those women who living in urban areas; though, rate of literacy of rural female grew more dramatically rising from 50 % in 2013 to 57% in 2015 to 68% in 2017. In comparison, city dwelling female literacy rate grew from 65% to 78% over periods.
A comparison of male and female l in 2017 shows that rural men can read and write at rate of 77% compared to females at 57%. Similarly urban dwelling male have higher rate of literacy than their female counterparts at 88.76% and 77% comparatively
