The writer of the passage presents three probable explanations for the origin of the book titled 'Voyanich manuscript' , which is written in a seemingly mysterious language. The lecturer, however, casts doubt on each of them.
First, the passage states that the manuscripts could contain important knowledge or magical information, and the anoymous writer intended to encode it through complex language. The passage also suggests a viable candiate. The professor, nevertheless, refutes the idea, she says that the proposed candidate was a run-of-the-mill scientist, and he did not have any original research. Thus, there would be no reason to write down his thoughts in such a wierd language, becasue there was not any authentic knowledge with him.
Second, the passage claims that the manuscripts might have been faked by a deceiptful person, the name of which is mentioned in the passage. He defrauded the elite by pretending to have magical power. On the contrary, the professor rejects the prediction by affording the information that the people were gullible, and he could have done the same with a much less elaborated book! It does not make sense that he would have put that much effort in order to only deceive people.
Ultimatedly, the possibilty that the manuscripts were faked by Voyanch is offered by the reading. Due to Voyanch proficieny in such jobs, he might have done it to resell the manuscripts with higher prices. The lecturer, nonetheless, belives that it is not convincing since the forgery dated at least 400 years ago. Although he may have procured enough old papers, it is implausible that he could have found suitable ink for his purpose.
