The pie charts below show the percentage of electricity production by fuel source in France in 1990 and 2010.
The two pie charts illustrate the proportion of five types of energy production in France in 1990 and 2010.
Overall, electricity production did not stay similar over the period stemming from the 5 diverse sources. In the second period, nuclear power became the major sector in manufacturing. While coal, oil, natural gas, and hydropower contributed to production, the percentage of their majority significantly decrease in the year 2010.
In the first year, 1990, the most significant sources of energy were coal and natural gas, which together accounted for over half the production of energy.
The energy produced by nuclear power comprised 17% in the first year and this showed a substation rocket of a massive 67% in 2010.
In contrast, hydropower made up the smallest part of the chart in both years, falling slightly from 6 to 2%, which is a fall of 4%. Comparing to 22% of oil sources in 1990, which has not risen, seeing the same trajectory that has other sectors, excluding nuclear power, falling to 13%.
