A glance at the chart provided reveals some striking trends about recycling of different different material during 1982 to 2010.
Overall, paper and cardboard along with glass containers experienced some fluctuations, however, the overall trend stayed up beat and cans as well as plastics were recycled the least.
According to the chart, paper and cardboard was recycled the most in 1982, nearly 65%. The number increased slightly, followed by a dip in about 1990, 65% again. The most paper and cardboard was recycled around 1994, a all-time high through out the given period. In 2010, 70% paper and cardboard was recycled. On the other hand, the number of glass containers started at 50% in 1982 and experienced a dip in 1990, 40% followed by a steady increase that end it at 60% in 2010.
Cans, however, witnessed a steady increase, just under 5% in 1982 to nearly 45% in 2010. The least material that was recycled was plastic, started to be recycled at just under 5% in 1986 to just below 10% in 2010.
