The given chart illustrates how many people were smoking per 1000 people in a specific nation over a 40 year period from 1960 to 2000.
overall, it can be seen that the percentage of women who smoked increased while the number of men smoker plummet dramatically over the period shown. Also, in the end of the period the rate of both women and men smokers were the same.
looking at the data in more detail, it is clear that the percentage of men who smoked were 600 per 1000 people, which was the highest percentage. whereas the women smokers were 100 smokers per 1000 people in 1960. They then increased dramatically until reached 300 smokers per 1000 people in 1975, while there was a moderate plunge in men smokers.
Turning to the remaining data , it is evident that the number of women and men smokers levelled off in the next 15 years respectively. This was followed by the former decreased sharply and the latter fell slightly. Finally, both men and women reached a low of approximately 200 smokers per 1000 people.
