The widespread use of the internet gives people more freedom to work and study at home instead of going to work or college. Do you think its advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

With the rise of the internet, working from home or online learning courses has increasingly been more common. I believe that the benefits are more significant than its drawbacks.
On the one hand, the ability to work or study via the Internet has allowed people to enjoy a better quality of life. Remote workers or learners could decide on the time at which they are most productive to perform their tasks. This brings them higher productivity; therefore, they could find it easier to juggle work and life. Another benefit of this trend would be the reduced commuting time and its related stress. In other words, traffic congestion would no longer be a hassle of a significant number of workers, thus allowing them to enjoy a less stressful life. Moreover, if there is no need to travel to and from work, carbon dioxide emissions, a major greenhouse gas, would be significantly lowered.
However, there are possible challenges to working or studying from home. To begin with, there would be no obvious boundary between work and life, especially for those who work on a task-based basis. Imagine if there was no fixed off-work time, some people would be too absorbed in their jobs and would be likely to neglect their family and their leisure time. In the long term, this would cause them to suffer serious health consequences. Furthermore, social interactions are limited when people do not work in the office. This would put them at a disadvantage as they miss the opportunities to build up social networks to move up their career ladder.
In conclusion, it seems to me that the benefits of distant working and learning are outweighed by their drawbacks.
