Another stricking feature to note is that the number of both male and female graduates generally followed an upward trend. In 1992-1995 period, the number of female students witnessed a slight rise before suffering a gradual decline from 1995 to 1998. However, from 1998 onwards, this figure experienced a sharp growth, reaching its peak of approximately 150000 in 2006. The trend for male students was similar. Having been followed a period of volatility from 1992 to 2001, the number of male graduates dramatically increased, leaping to a new peak in 2006.
