The two graphs show the main sources of energy in the USA in the 1980s and the 1990s.
Write a report for a university lecturer describing the changes which occurred.
The two pie charts illustrate the percentage of energy generated from 5 different categories of sources in the US between 1980 and 1990.
Overall, in both years, oil, natural gas, and coal was the main means of energy gneration. Additionally, oil and gas shared a similar upward trend over the given period, and the opposite movement was true for coal sources and nuclear power.
In 1980, the proportion of energy produced from oil sources ranked top, at 42%. In comparison with natural gas, which manufactured somewhat 26% of all the energy in the US in 1980, coal constituted a smaller fraction of 22%. The rate of energy generated from nuclear power was the same as that taken from hydroelectric power, at 5%.
From 1980 and 1990, the percentage of energy generated from oil resources experienced a dramatic decline of about 9% to 33%. The rate of energy made from gas shared a minimal decrease of about a mere 1% to 25%, over the given period. As for that taken from coal and nuclear segment, there was a moderate increase of around 5% in both resources to 27% and 10% respectively, over a decade. Interestingly, hydroelectric seemed to be the most unpopular way to produce energy in USA, because the rate of it stayed unchanged, at a modest 5%, over this time period.
