The increasing globalization of telecommunication and the interdependency of economies of the various countries of the world cannot be denied. News and pieces of information that can be transmitted throughout the world is a matter of seconds. Various banks in hundreds of different countries of the world can transfer money to other banks in the world in just a second. As these global networks become more developed, this world becomes more "smaller" than it is today. While there is no doubt that most aspects of society probably benefited greatly from global networks.
Education probably has the greatest opportunity to benefit from these global networks and communications. Student's access to the internet and the world wide web collect all the data and pieces of information through the world. Research on any subject can be done just sitting at a computer rather than spending the whole day around the stacks of books in the library. It is possible that a student in India can attend a class in the United States. Due to coronavirus, more than three hundred million students worldwide are having their education disrupted. In this environment, students and teachers are not able to take classes in person, so they are using various online learning resources like zoom, google duo, slack, etc. The benefit for education are endless and continuously expanding as global networks and communications improve day by day.
With the field of politics, it becomes less certain on the subject of potential benefit. On the one hand, people of various countries are connecting to each other through social media, instant messenger, and chatrooms and they find out about the political environment and conditions everywhere in the world. This would lead to greater advancement in democracy. On the other hand, the government see this a threat to their power and strive to eliminate access to these type of communication and global networks, which could not be a benefit for the population as a whole.
As for the arts and cultures, global networks may be a more threat than a benefit. Although the fans of arts and cultures have greater access to the arts of other countries than ever before, this could lead to homogenization of the art that could reduce the artistic values and cultural differences in the future. Additionally, the arts and the cultures actually lose national identities as the global network becomes more widespread.
To sum up, almost all aspects of society gain more benefit from the growth of global networks and communication. In general, the more that the people connected to each other greater the chance to understand each other. But in rush to understand each other, it is important that not to lose unique cultural values and characteristics that make them different from others.
