Without a shadow of a doubt, there are many factors that people should take into account when they behave in front of a public situation. In my opinion, as far as the culture, politeness, and righteousness are concerned, it is my conviction that people should wait for the lecture or meeting over to talk about the mistake with the teacher or leader. I made my position for many rational reasons, and I will illustrate further in the following paragraphs.
First and foremost, in some cultures, it will be extremely impolite to point out someone's mistake in public when they are still talking, especially that this someone is your teacher or leader, who you should show some respect. For example, in the workplace, if we interrupt our leader in the meeting, the leader will feel that he was not respected. The consequence of this rude behavior may be adverse to us; the superior may get mad at us or even deliberately ignore our advice in future meetings. Therefore, for our own benefits, we should adequately consider other people's feelings and preserve the self-esteem of those who in a high position.
In addition, talking to others about their careless mistakes in a more private place can promote our relationship with them because they will appreciate the thoughtfulness. I have to admit that my own experience has profoundly influenced my opinion on this matter. Just take the case of my mother, who is a completed career-oriented woman and work in a substantial international company as a counselor. My mother once told me a story about her and her boss when she was a nobody in the company. During an internal meeting, her boss made a mistake of a deductive about a vital result, instead of correcting her boss immediately, my mother choose to send her boss a detailed email explaining her conclusion. As a result, the boss notices my mother's ability to take care of others' feelings and analysis skills. Before long, my mother gets her promotion.
Nevertheless, there still a exist voice that people always have the option to say nothing because it is also polite. However, as I said at the beginning of this article, righteous and integrity matters. You can imagine a society where the mainstream values advocate people to stay silent only for the sake of courtesy; it would be a world full of flattery and hypocrisy. I think we should uphold the culture of bravely pointing out the false in a condition of protecting the dignity of others.
In a nutshell, based on the considerations mentioned above, I maintain that we should raise the mistake after other people leave rather than saying out loud in public or keep quiet about it. Admittedly, I understand that every individual has their own perspective and judgment.
However, I firmly believe that they will compromise after reading my article.
