You borrowed some books from your school/college library. Unfortunately, you have to go away to visit a sick relative and cannot return the books in time.
Write a letter to the library and explain what has happened and tell them what you want to do about it.
I am writing concerning the delay in returning two books of history that I borrowed from your library last month and I supposed to return them before 13th june of this month. Allow me to elaborate on exactly why I would not be able to return then on assigned day.
Actually, I need to go away from the city for one weak as an unfortunate incident happened to one of my cousin living in the New York. He met with a road accident and got injuries all over his body. Even though he is stable now, but doctor told him to be under medical supervision for the next weak. Therefore, I have to stay at hospital in order to assist him with every day routine.
To cut off the possible delay, I requested my neighbor to return books to the library as soon as possible. He will be out of town for next two days and return books immediately after getting home.
I would be grateful if you could understand the urgency of this critical situation and would not charge for delay.
Thank you for taking time to read ,and for considering this matter.
Yours faithfully
Brian Ace
