The table illustrates the amount of money spent by an average Australian family on different kind of goods and services in two different years(1991 and 2001)
Overall, the total expenditure increased from 1991 to 2001. The spending were mostly focused on food and other goods and services in bot the years.
In term of food, they spend over 155 dollars in 1991 which was 5 percent lower than that of 2001(160 dollars). For electricity and water, the figure increased the most out of all the categories with over a forty-five dollar increase, reaching over 120 dollars in 2001. The most important expenditure was on other goods and services, having the highest figures of 250$ in 1991 and 270 dollars in 2001.
Meanwhile, housing saw the least difference in their trend with only a five percent increase from 95 to 100 dollars. The rest of the categories, clothing and transport experienced a downward trend. For transport, the figures dropped down from from 70 to 45 dollars. Clothing was the spent the lowest out of all the categories at only 30 dollars in 1991 and 200 dollars on the other years
