The line graph provides a breakdown on the level of people visiting cinema in four different age groups in a particular country between 1978 and 2008.
According to the diagram, it is clear that there was a nearly similar between the lines of visitors who were over 50 and who were 14-24 years old over a 30-year period. First and foremost, in 1978, 90% of cinema visitors in this country were 14-24 years old. This figure was much higher than this of over 50-year-old people, which stood at 40%. After that, these proportions decreased considerably to under 80% for 14-24-year-old people and 20% for over 50-year-old people in 1988. Thereafter, both of the proportions of two age groups steadily increased and levelled off at the same point with the number of 1978 until 2003. After these changes, the difference between the trends of two age groups emerged. While the percentage of over 50-year-old people visiting cinema moderately climbed and finished at 50% in 2008, the ratio of people in the 14-24 age group declined an amount which is the same as the increasing amount of people in the over 50 age group. Obviously, the percentage of people in the 14-24 age group was still higher than this in the over 50 age group over the period change.
In addition, similar to the aforementioned groups, the remaining groups had the trends which were quite alike. To begin with, in 1978, there were 80% and 60% respectively for cinema visitors who were 25-34 years old and who were 35-49 years old. After this year, the lines representing people in these age groups dropped the same amount until 1988. Then the rate of 35-49-year-old people going to the cinema noticeably rose to more than 60% in 1998 and remained constant at that point until 2003. Similarly, the proportion of people in the 25-34 age group also went up to 70% and remained stable at this proportion till 2003. After 2003, both of these percentages slightly fell up to 2008.
Overall, it may be concluded that cinema visitors in all age groups declined through the period shown, except for people in the over 50 age group.
