The bar charts reveal the change in the proportion of five different types of transport which people used to go to their companies and go back home in 1959 and 2009.
Overall, it is evident that the average distance and duration experienced an upward trend. Besides, while foot was the way that was the highest rate in 1959, the percentage of car in 2009 saw higher than other remaining transports.
Look at two charts, the average distance in 2009 was higher nearly 6 times than that since 1959. Similarly, the average duration in 1959 stood at 17 minutes while this figure after 50 years increased significantly to 42 minutes. While the figure for people walked to their office and got back home in 1959 was over a fifth, the same percentage in 1009 just accounted for approximately half of the figure in 1959.
Comparison with two charts, the proportions of other and car increased quite sharply from 5 percent to 12 percent and 10 percent to 35 percent respectively. Exactly 15 percent of train both in 1959 and 2009 were identical, the opposite was true for the percentage of bus in 2009 decreased slightly 2 percent compared with this figure in 1959.
