The chart below shows the number of men and women in further education in Britain in three periods and whether they were studying full-time or part-time. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The bar chart illustrates how many British students in both genders pursue higher education in three years and which courses of studying they registered, full-time or part-time.
Overall, there was an increase in the number of females entering education and male taking parting in full-time education, even though the proportion of part-time male students experienced a marginal decrease. It is also noticeable that the numbers of full-time students were always significantly higher than that of part-time students.
The number of female students who pursue part-time education started at about 700 thousands in 1970 and 1971, after which it witnessed a moderate rise to approximately 1100 thousands at the end of the given period. Inversely, the figure for male part-time education pursuers was at 1000 thousands in 1970 and 1971, followed by a subsequent fall to above 800 thousands before ending the period with a slight growth to almost 900 thousands in 1990 and 1991.
Regarding full-time education, about 1000 thousands of British male students chose to pursue this course in 1970 and 1971, with a following rise to above 200 thousands in the last year. Similar changes, but to a lesser extent can be seen female students, whose proportion of people participating in studying full-time grew from nearly 90 thousands in 1970 and 1971 to nearly 200 thousands in 1990 and 1991. Full-time education was reported to be the less chosen course for students over the period shown.
