The line graph compares and contrasts data on the changes in the preference of energy carriers over a 60 year period. Overall, as can be seen, the percentages of people who preferred natural gas steadily decreased, whereas the number of houses whose choice was electricity significantly increased.
First of all, as can be seen from the graph, before 1950 the percent of natural gas accounted for 60% and remained constant until 1969. Starting from 1970 to 1989 there was a dramatic drop in the number of houses, which were built during this period, in the selection of natural gas as a source of heating.
Before 1950 approximately only 15% of houses utilized electricity, but beginning from that period the consumers’ choices definitely saw some changes in favour of electric power. By 2010 the quantity of houses who preferred electricity was equal to the number of homes with natural gas and this percentage made up nearly 45%.
