The bar chart shows the number of hot dogs and buns are eaten in 15 minutes by the winners of Nathan s Hot Dog Eating Contest in Brooklyn The USA between 1980 and 2010
The given bar chart details the report on Nathan's hotdogs and buns' eating challenge, which lasts for at least 15 minutes and takes place in Brooklyn's coney island every 4th of July, over a period of 30 years from 1980 to 2010.
Looking from the overall perspective, it is readily apparent that in the contest of eating 68 buns, over the period as a whole, the American Joey Chestnut broke the previous record of a Japanese winner( Takeru) during the period end.
According to the given illustration, the United States won the contest successively for 3 years in a row by consuming nearly 10 buns. However, whilst with 19.5 buns, Mexico announced to be the winner in 1983, the consumption of merely half of those proved Germany as the winner in the next year( first female winner Birgit Feldon over the entire period length).
Further, for consecutive 11 years until 1996, the United States won all the contests, with a maximum of 20 buns in 1991. Thereafter, in the following 10 years, all the contests but only one(by the USA in 1999) went in Japan's bucket, with a record of 53.75 buns. By contrast, from 2007 onwards, the United States continued to be the achiever of all the contests, with a record-breaking number of 68 buns in the year 2009.
