Essay topics:

The flow chart illustrates the consequence of deforestation. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features.

The flow chart depicts the ramifications of clear cutting of forests or deforestation. There are four major consequences shown in the flowchart.

Due to deforestation, heavy logging equipment compresses the soil which inturns leads to hardening and baking of soil. As a result, there is a rain water runoff which in turn leads to flooding.

Second consequence of clear cutting of forest is fewer roots of plants and trees hold in the top soil thereby leading to top soil erosion. As a result, pioneer species move in and vegetation is degraded leading to less biodiversity.

Third major consequence of deforestation is increased risk of burning be it deliberate or accidental burning. Consequently, waste wood from logging is destroyed and micro-organisms feeding on the waste wood are lost. This leads to same scenario as in third paragraph, less biodiversity is seen due to degradation of vegetation and moving in of pioneer species.

Fourth consequence of deforestation is plants return less moisture to air which leads to less precipitation thereby leading to drought. This gives rise to similar scenario as seen in previous paragraph, decline in the biodiversity because of pioneer species moving in and degradation of vegetation.
