The graph below shows in percentage terms the changing patterns of domestic access to modern technology in homes in the UK
The line graph provides an outline of the proportion of technologies that are used by the British people from 1996 to 2003.
Overall, it is clear that all of the technologies had an upward trend over the period given, while the CD player recorded by far the highest figure compared to other technological gadgets.
Looking at the line graph, we can see that the CD player increased significantly to achieve at nearly 80%. Meanwhile, the mobile phone had a significant change which rose to above 40%, while the percentage of the home computer was below the mobile phone. Likewise, an increase in the percentage of home computer maintained from 30% in 1996/97 to approximately 55%. Even though the line for mobile phones and home computers narrowed between 2000 and 2001, the home computer couldn't overpass the mobile phone. However, internet access was by far the least percentage compared to other technologies.
In 2003, the CD player had become the most popular technology with more than 80%. Furthermore, the mobile phone rose to peak it's highest figure and become the second most popular gadget while internet access and home computer remained under them, 45% and 59%, respectively.
