The charts below show the proportions of British students at one university in England who were able to speak other languages in addition to English, in 2000 and 2010.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The following pie charts illustrate what percentage British students of a specific university in UK could speak other languages alongside English in two different years of 2000 and 2010.
As can be clearly observed from the graphs, the change of percentage during 200 to 2010 can be divided in two distinctive groups. The first group consists of students who could not speak any other languages than English and those students were able to speak only French or only German beside English. While the share of students with ability to speak only German remained fixed about 10% during 2000 to 2010, there was a significant fall in No other language section and French only part, from 20% to 10% and from 15% to 10% respectively, at the same course.
However, the proportion of students who could speak one or two other languages and Spanish in addition to English, which are placed in the second group, witnessed a considerable climb within 2000 to 2010. Despite the fact that the largest proportion of students could speak Spanish with English, as their mother tongue, in both 2000 by 30% and 2010 by 35%, the same percentage of increase was observable in either Another language section which went up from 15% to 20% within 2000 to 2010, Tow other languages from 10% to 15% at the same period.
It is clear from the graphs that unlike French and German which British students were not interested in, nearly 90% of British students in the university were able to speak at least one other language alongside English in 2010.
