The table compares five categories of vehicles in Australia in terms of the number of registrations from 2010 to 2014.
Overall, there was an upward trend in the figure for all five types of vehicles registered in this country. Another striking feature is that passenger vehicles had the highest number of registrations while light trucks were registered at least.
In a more detailed analysis, in 2010, the number of registrations of passenger vehicles stood at 11.8 million, which was approximately five times as many as that of commercial vehicles (2,3 million). In four years, regarding the percentage growth, the former witnessed a modest rise of 10.2%, translated to 1.2 million while there was a higher increase of 1.4 million recorded in the latter.
Additionally, the figure for motorcycles experienced the highest ascent of 30.8%, growing substantially from 540 thousand to 709 thousand. In comparison, the number of heavy trucks’ registrations marginally increased by 8.3%, the lowest percentage growth throughout the time span. In terms of light trucks, the figure for this type of vehicle which initially was 106,000 rose considerably to 131 thousand in 2014.
