The charts compare the proportion of energy produced by different sources in France in 1995 and 2005.
The pie chart illustrates the percentage of five types of energy generation in France from 1995 to 2005
Overall, coal and gas accounted for most of the energy production in both 2 years. While all sources were seen with increases in their usage, the petro-generated energy declined significantly in the examined period
In 1995, coal constituted the largest fraction of the whole chart with 29.80%, followed by gas with 29.63%. Ten years later, energy generated by both coal and gas rose steadily by around 1%, from 29.80% to 30.93% for coal and 29.63% to 30.31% for gas, collectively made up more than a half of the energy production
With regard to the three remaining fuels, more energy is generated by nuclear and other sources over a 10-year period. In 1995, 6.40% of energy generation was allocated to nuclear, while the figure for other fuels was roughly half of that (4.90%). Within ten years, significant growths were seen in the consumption of these sources, with increases of 4 to 4.5%. However, petro was the only fuel was seen with nearly a 10% decrease in their usage for energy production, while its figure dropped from 29.27% to 19.55%
