Overall, dinner is when food that includes sodium and saturated fat is eaten the most, whereas it is when people have a craving for snacks that added sugar is highly consumed.
As per the charts, it is immediately noticeable that people take in the same amount of sodium during snack time and when they eat the first meal of the day. When comparing with that of saturated fat, the former is about 7% and 2% lower for snacks and breakfast, respectively. In addition, American lunches contain a significantly high amount of sodium in comparison with added sugar with a 10% difference.
Another prominent feature of typical meals in the US is that saturated fat in lunch nearly crosses the 30% mark, which is about two-thirds that of the nutrient’s highest-containing meal, and therefore, is the second-largest share of the chart. Last but not least, the amount of sugar included in dinner halved that of products that people consume during snack time.
