The maps below show the village of Stokeford in the years 1930 and 2010. The map of 2010 illustrates the changes incorporated in the village over a period of 80 years.
In the year 1930, the hamlet Stokeford was mostly covered by farmland. As revealed by the map, it had a couple of shops acoompanied by a post office which was just located beside the main road. There were very few residential houses in the village and all of them were located adjacent to each other on both the sides of the main road. The Primary school was big but had only one building. The hamlet had a large garden full of trees and a large house was situated in the middle of it.
The village underwent significant modifications in the next 80 years. As shown by the map in 2010, the farmlands are completely removed from the village. The shops were removed. In its place, a lot of residential places have come up. The Primary school was modernised and made bigger. The map reports that lot of side roads are added that are surrounded by houses on both sides. The size of the garden has reduced considerably while the erstwhile large house is replaced by a larger Retirement home.
So, the village of Strokeford has seen a lot of changes since 1930 but the bridge over the river still stands unchanged.
