The line graph belows show the growth of defense spending and its percentage of GNP in USA. Write a short report for a university lecturer describing the changes between 1656 and 1975
The two graphs unfold the same thing about the increase of defense spending but are presented by two different ways from 1956 and 1975.
As can be seen from the graphs, the amount of money that used to spend on defense increased over the given period. Meanwhile, a percentage of GNP witnessed a dramatic decrease between 1956 and 1975.
At the first graph, starting from the lowest point ar approximately 37 billion in 1956 fluctuated and then reached to exactly 50 billion in the year of 1962. Two years later, it experienced a slight decrease by more than 40 billion. The growth of defense spending hit the highest point at more than 80 billion at the end of the period.
Regarding the second graph, a proportion of GNP reached its highest point at 10 percent in the first year. A significant drop was seen in 1964 and then rised again to more than 9 percent. After that, there was a dramatic drop by lower 7 percent in 1975.
