In most countries, fast food is becoming cheaper and more available. Do the advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages?
It is true that due to the establishment of the international fast food chains all over the world, it is easy to find and purchase this kind of food because of its low-cost and availability. This may have some negative impacts, but the benefits of it is far more significant.
On the one hand, cheap and available fast food can result in minor disadvantages. The most obvious drawback is that using too much food such as hamburgers, chips, chicken fried and coke can lead to many diseases. Many researches about the harm of this kind of products on people’s health, specifically the risk of cardiovascular and diabet, are proved and broadcast on many media platforms. The second negative impact could be the reason why fast food is cheap. The fact that staffs work in fast food industry are receiving the salary level which is lower than their peers in another industrys. By giving less money to employees, the owners of fast food chains can save a number of money and also make their food’s price competitive.
Nevertheless, cheap and available fast food can have major advantages which overshadow these downsides. One potential benefit is that it could help the busy people such as white-collar worker and medical staffs save a lot of time on cooking and shopping. This allow them to focus more on their professional and important business. Another merit worth mentioning could be that the cheaper the food, the more helpful it is to the poor. Indeed, it is difficult for homeless and low-income people to buy materials and prepare their own meals. That’s why cheap and available fast food have been becoming the best solutions to meet their eating need.
In conclusion, despite some drawbacks of accessible fast food with regard to detrimental impacts on people’s health and salary of staffs, they pale in comparison to the beneficial effects to the busy people and the poor.
