The pie charts compare some types of employment regarding men and women in the US in 1992.
Overall, it can be seen that the majority of employment patterns was non-manual jobs, while the opposite was true for male group. Furthermore, general laborers only gained the smallest preference among the world of work in both genders.
In terms of careers without manual working, the percentage of female group taking part in this area was much more higher than that of male, with totally 69% and 48%, respectively. To be more specific, 31% of the number of women choosing clerical or related jobs, nearly 5 times as many as the opposite sex. Standing at the second place was career relating managerial and professional with 29% for female and this figure was lower compared to male numbers. It is clear that besides 2 typical kind of non-manual jobs mentioned above, both genders allocated less labor to other jobs, at 9% for female and 6% for male.
As for manual jobs, the minority of people who pursue general laborers and the figure is nearly the same for both group. In contrast, the year 1992 also witnessed a significant reversion in terms of craft area. While about one-quarter of the total of male population spent their time on working with craft, the figure for women was only 3%. Moreover, nearly the same fraction between men and women who had a tendency to devote themselves in other manual jobs, reaching at 26%.
