The graph provides information about the average CO2 emission per person in four European countries from 1967 to 2007. From an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the average emission per person in Italy and Portugal experienced significant upward trends. Meanwhile, the figure for the UK and Sweden showed a considerable inclined.
In the initial year, approximately 11 metric tonnes of CO2 resulted from one person in the UK. This figure then showed a slight move to about 10 metric tonnes in the following two years and finishing the period at around 8.5 metric tonnes in 2007. In comparison to the UK figure, the average number of CO2 emissions per person in Sweden in 1967 was lower by about 2.5 metric tonnes, inclining sharply to more than 10 metric tonnes in 1977 before it experienced an exponential drop to around 7 metric tonnes in 1987. The figure, then, fell considerably and ending the year at the similar figure that of Portugal.
More than 4 metric tonnes of CO2 emission was responsible for one Italian in 1967. The number had risen more than 2 metric tonnes in the following year, and two decades later, the figure experienced a slow change and leveled off just below 8 metric tonnes in the final year. Additionally, the figure for Portugal commenced just below 2 metric tonnes, rising considerably from just above 2 metric tonnes in 1977 to around 5.5 in 1977, and showed a slight grew in the final year.
